Matheson at a town near you! 6 June 2009
Over the next couple of months, we're going to be busy little beavers. We've got a score of shows across regional Victoria. Most of these will be in support of Matt Joe Gow & The Dead Leaves. Plus, we're making a sojourn to Adelaide.
Personally, I can't wait. I've never been to Adelaide.
I haven't been to Mildura since I was in Grade 1! All I remember is visiting an orange orchard and some Paddle Steamers.
Last time I went to Shepparton, I got a punctured tyre and had to replace two tyres because the dude at the tyre shop wouldn't let me drive away with bald tyres.
And I haven't been to Bendigo since, oooh, Easter this year!
In addition to all this, we'll be playing at the inaugural Blueprint Festival, a bit outside of Aararat in September. There's already a huge lineup for Blueprint, with more to be announced. Its one of the first festivals of the season, too. Get involved!
So we'll be checking the tyre pressures on the Volvo, filling the windshield-washer reservoir and hitting a town near you! Check our dates on Myspace, Facebook, and most importantly. on this site!
See you on the road,
Steve

Where do you weigh a whale? 3 May 2009 ..we'll get to that later. We’ve been to sunny/tropically rainy Queensland this weekend. Two shows in all. One at The Sands Tavern in Maroochydore, and one at the stunningly beautiful Woodfordia site. It’s the place where the Woodford Folk Festival is held every year (around Christmas). This weekend was their Planting weekend, where a bunch of committed ticket holders paid for the privilege of planting trees to help regenerate the site. It’s a marvelous idea.
We played as the entertainment for the Saturday night, along with fellow Bombers supporter, Glenn Richards (of Augie March fame), and Melbourne lads Bonjah. We met lots of wonderful people and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. We’d like to thank (in no particular order) Bill, Jan, Katie, Jade, Avalon, Alice, Dillon, Malcolm, Jeff, Ross, Rod Quantock, Glenn, Carly, Sarah, Scott, Alex, and anyone else we may have forgotten for making us feel so welcome, showing us the sights, finding us towels, and making us laugh, think and chant for football teams.
There was, however, an small incident with a rogue wheelie bin and a hire car, but we came out of that OK. In the title fight of Matheson Vs Wheelie bin, Matheson came out on top. We're winners.
As we fly back into Victoria, we’re looking to the week ahead – Tuesday night at Northcote Social Club with The Underminers Duo and Epicure, then Saturday at the Curtin Band Room in Calrton with Custom Kings.
So, with one hectic week behind us and another one about to commence, it’s a good opportunity to reflect on what we’ve learnt. I learned never to trust a GPS unit. Aaron learned to pack more paracetamol, and Mark learned about Dongas (look it up - its not rude). Plus, thanks to Ross, our trusty bus driver, we all learned where to weigh a whale. You’ve probably heard it before, but it was news to us – you weigh a whale at a Whale Weigh Station! Ba-hahahahaha. Oh, Ross. Thanks for the memes.

See you at a show soon
Steve

24 November 2008 G'day All, Having spent the weekend putting the final touches on the mixes, today, we spent the day in the mastering suite. Yes, we now have a mastered album! But that's not the only news from day. See, in between the mastering, we found:
Most importantly, we've done it. All the hard work over the past couple of months has been well worth the wait. You'll hear what we mean in good time. For now, we're now setting to work, finalising the artwork for the album, getting ready for some launch shows in February. Plans may change, however. You just never know. So, we still have a few more shows before the end of the year. Come down and sing along.
Happy Sailing! Matheson |
